Gucci Expands "The Alchemist’s Garden" With Three New Artisanal Scents

Gucci is delving deeper into the world of high-art fragrance with an expansion of The Alchemist’s Garden, its luxury perfume line that fuses Renaissance-era alchemy with contemporary perfumery.

The collection, already known for its meticulous craftsmanship and apothecary-inspired bottles, now welcomes three new additions—Vanilla Firenze, Fiori di Neroli, and Osmanthus Nectar. These fragrances join the best-selling Tears from the Moon, further solidifying Gucci’s dedication to rare ingredients and traditional extraction techniques.

With this launch, Gucci reinforces The Alchemist’s Garden as more than a fragrance collection. It’s a sensory exploration of transformation, inspired by the elements of earth, air, water, and fire. Each scent is carefully crafted using traditional techniques while embracing innovation.

A Study in Craftsmanship

Each new fragrance in the collection is rooted in a deep respect for raw materials and the alchemical philosophy of metamorphosis.

Vanilla Firenze is a testament to layered complexity, composed by perfumer Véronique Nyberg. At its core is Italian Iris Pallida Concrete, extracted through an aging process that involves drying rhizomes in underground caves before distillation. Three forms of vanilla—Infusion, Absolute, and gas-extracted Essence—intertwine with myrrh resinoid, yielding a scent that balances warmth, spice, and powdery elegance.

Fiori di Neroli showcases Gucci’s partnership with Liguria’s last remaining neroli producer, a family-run operation dating back to 1856. Perfume duo Mathieu Nardin and Julie Massé capture the essence of hand-harvested neroli flowers through steam distillation, layering it with petitgrain and cedarwood for a luminous, citrus-tinged floral profile.

Osmanthus Nectar, crafted by Natalie Lorson, takes a more avant-garde approach—translating taste into scent. The apricot-like sweetness of osmanthus flowers is heightened by a preservation technique that captures their molecules at peak bloom, then blended with sandalwood through molecular distillation, resulting in a creamy yet airy composition.

Alchemy in a Bottle

The Alchemist’s Garden remains structured around four elemental categories—Substratum (earth-based compositions), Vaporum (airy and ethereal scents), Liquidum (water-focused distillations), and Ignis (transformative and experimental blends). Each fragrance belongs to one of these alchemical pillars, reflecting the evolution of raw ingredients into their most refined form.

Creative Director Sabato De Sarno has unveiled a campaign that highlights not just the final fragrances, but the tactile, sensory journey behind them—the aged iris, the hand-plucked neroli blossoms, the glass-encased osmanthus. The collection’s signature bottles, steeped in apothecary tradition, reinforce Gucci’s storytelling approach to scent, where each perfume isn’t merely worn but experienced.
